Binary Tree E2E Complete

I have had some time to look at the Binary Tree E2E Complete product via their excellent online training material, and have been very impressed.   If you need to move from Exchange 2003/2007 onto Exchange 2010 then you should consider this tool.   You install it onto a dedicated Migration Server, along with a copy of SQL Server (a copy comes with the E2E software).    Configuring the product is straightforward, and you are soon able to start scheduling some mailbox moves.   The scheduling engine is one of E2E’s best features as allows you to schedule mailbox moves for groups of users based on advanced filtering options.

Of course, you still need to keep a careful watch on Exchange Transaction Log growth on the target Exchange platform, as mailbox moves generate transaction logs equal to the mailbox sizes – this can be overlooked when scheduling mailbox moves overnight.  Detailed logging and reporting is also available, and all allows you to track the mailbox moves as you work through them.

The native Microsoft tools do not allow you to move mailboxes from Exchange 2003 straight to Exchange 2010, whereas Binary Tree E2E allows this to take place.   Moving from your legacy Exchange 2003 platform to a new Exchange 2010 platform suddenly becomes easy to manage whilst minimising business impact.

Binary Tree CMT for Exchange

I used Binary Tree CMT on a recent email migration project from Domino r8 to Exchange 2010.   The detailed user guide allowed for a smooth installation of the Migration Server.  And I enjoyed exploring the myriad of different migration options within the CMT product.    The core software runs as a Domino Database on the Domino Server, allowing it to be backed up by the regular Domino backups.  This also allows you to leverage the skills of any Lotus Notes Administrator onsite to help run the migrations.    One stand out feature was the ability to send custom email messages to users before, and during, the email migration.
