Rob Walton – Email Contact:             emailmigrations@gmail.com

Rob Walton has worked as a Technical Lead on numerous email migration projects involving a range of business sectors and technologies, starting way back in the Microsoft Mail era, through to today’s technologies such as Exchange 2010 SP2.    More recently I have been working on migration projects covering Quest Software, Exchange 2007, Exchange 2010, Lotus Domino and GroupWise.  I am Quest certified in their Lotus Notes Migrator, and GroupWise Migrator products.

I have personally been responsible for moving over 100,000 mailboxes during my many email migration projects (15+).   Each project has seen me gain more experience, which I can bring to the next project.   This knowledge and experience allows me to make informed decisions during any email migration project, helping towards its success.    Many technical people offer opinions during a typical email migration project, which can sound convincing.  However, my opinions are backed up by experience, and the knowledge of how a decision will play out later in the project life-cycle.

This has resulted in a wealth of email migration experience across the entire project life-cycle encompassing: pre-sales, RFP response, architecture, design, implementation, operational support, documentation and handover.   This also has required working closely all levels of the business — from the Board Room, through to the technical teams, and the users.  You can find me on Linkedin for more details.

For remote projects my most effective role is that of Trusted Technical Advisor, working alongside the Project Manager, and helping make key technical decisions, whilst managing the technical engineers who are on site.  This also gives you the option to use my skills to produce key Design Documents, which the on site team often lack time to achieve.   Regular communication via email and Skype ensures I stay in close contact with the team.

I can provide customer references for recent major email migration projects I have helped succeed for customers in the following countries:

  • New Zealand: various email migration projects (each over 10,000 seats) off Domino/GroupWise onto Exchange 2007/2010, using the Quest migration tools
  • Australia: Domino to Exchange 2010 email migration in the banking sector for 3,000 seats, using the Quest Lotus Notes Migrator tool
  • United States: GroupWise 8 to Exchange 2010, for 14,000 seats, using the Quest GroupWise Migrator tool
